The way I work
As I counsellor I will always endeavour to:
· Assist you to identify your problems, needs and behaviour;
· Help you to express your feelings and thoughts;
· Explore possible solutions in complete confidence;
· Help you take control of your own decisions and actions.
I usually suggest an introductory/assessment session, where we can explore together what it is you would like help with. We will then decide how to best move forward and how many sessions you would like to have. You are not committing yourself to further sessions by having this initial appointment.
Some people come to work with me on a particular issue for a few sessions, others want to come for more in-depth counselling on an open-ended basis - it varies, depending on your needs. Most people have counselling until they feel they have satisfactorily resolved some need within themselves.
Everything discussed in a counselling session is completely confidential. I would never pass on any information about you unless I believed that you were in danger of harming yourself or another person, and only then after discussion with you.
